In the last few years of building the collection I have of HomeKit products, I’ve had to say that the benefit of homekit smart switch is the capability to combine many different products from various manufacturers into one application that is easy to use. After I set up my home alarm system a few weeks ago it clicked for me. When I was setting up my automated systems and a few other things, it was clear to my head that the main value of HomeKit is that it can leverage automations from all the devices in the HomeKit ecosystem.

Over the years I had a HomeKit setup was the majority of smart outlets that were connected with our lights. Because our schedules are often different so I didn’t put the timers on auto-pilot according to the timing of the day. I utilized Home to switch on several lamps at the same time.
As I began to expand my HomeKit range with products like such as August Door Lock, Fibaro Water Sensor and abode’s alarm system along with Eufy cameras, I began to see the benefits of automations. For instance. I make use of the motion sensor of my home alarm to turn up my Hue bulbs to 30 percent brightness when it detects movement between 5:15 AM and 7:07 am when I wake up to prepare my first cup of coffee. Prior to being able to set this up I had to leave my bedroom, close the door behind me, launch the Home app, then start a lamp. It now happens in a way.
Another way that I am taking advantage of the advantages of HomeKit automations is to deal with my motion sensor lighting outside. I use the Eufy cameras to sense motion on my front porch. When it does sense motion in the dark, it switches on my Hue floodlights for a couple of minutes. In my backyard I’m doing something similar, however, it’s using the backdoor’s contact sensor from abode to serve as the trigger. It’s set to only to turn on the lights in the backyard at 6:00 pm, and after 7:15 AM.
Review of the benefits of HomeKit
These examples are provided to demonstrate the true advantages of HomeKit. It’s not only about being able to access “everything Apple.” It’s not just about the ability to get rid of applications from the manufacturer. The main advantage of HomeKit isn’t being restricted to only one manufacturer.
It’s about being able make anything you wish to make with the equipment you own. It isn’t an issue that Philips doesn’t have sensors for doors to activate their floodlights. It isn’t a problem that Eufy does not make an HomeKit suitable floodlight. Both of them have HomeKit support and compatibility with HomeKit, there’s no limit to what they do. With HomeKit it’s all more about the things they accomplish together, which is the true benefits of HomeKit and creating your home’s smart features on a platform rather than only a few devices.
