DJI Osmo Action 2 – product updates

It was very exciting discover the introduction of two fresh products by DJI over the past two months. The brand new Mini 2 drone and the Pocket 2 received very positive reviews from their initial tests and are actually a decent improvement over their predecessors.

Additionally, in the spring of this year, we witnessed Mavic Air 2’s premiere. Mavic Air 2 premiere which was quickly the most talked about drone, and we couldn’t resist the opportunity to purchase it too.

We are having the impression that there’s an item that has been absent this year and we’re looking forward to hearing some announcements from DJI with regards to the latest version of their DJI Osmo Action camera.

We’re not saying that There’s nothing wrong in the Osmo Action. It’s just the way it is. Osmo Action but we have two newly released GoPro action cameras that are already available, which is why we believe it’s the right time to wait for DJI to announce the DJI Osmo Action 2.

One thing to note is that even though the first generation of cameras was released in the past, it was still very competitive with more modern action cameras such as GoPro Hero 7 and GoPro Hero 8 because of the extremely good firmware updates.

Osmo Action 2 – product updates

Here is a few of the suggestions (or could be we call them expectations) regarding what we would like to observe during Osmo Action 2. Osmo Action second generation:

Stabilization has been improved The RockSteady stabilization performed a fantastic job when we tested it alongside our Osmo Action however we can see that GoPro is a bit ahead with their new generation of action cameras. We’d like to have the RockSteady operating in 4K HDR mode too.

A bigger sensor – we are aware this is a difficult issue when it comes to action cameras, but we have seen that some competitors have integrated larger sensors into their action cameras with impressive results, and with improved low-light capabilities.

A better 4K and possibly 6k video quality. The video quality we receive in the initial generation of Osmo Action is very good however it is not up to the 2022 model. It would also be fantastic for the future if DJI shifts to higher resolution such as 8k or 6k to ensure compatibility over time.

These are the features we love about the first Osmo Action and want to keep in the next generation in 2023:

Front display
Removable lens cover
Simple menu
Long battery life
Priced appropriately

Overall, we’re content of Osmo Action. Osmo Action but we truly believe that it’s the right time for Osmo Action 2. We are hoping to get to see it debut at the beginning of 2023. Of course, it’s the responsibility of DJI to decide the date and time when this product will be released and be available for purchase.
