A weather warning of strong winds has been issued as Storm Barra is set to hit London.

The Met Office says that much of the UK is expected to be hit by the storm on Tuesday (December 7) and to expect potential traffic delays and loss of power.

Potential travel disruptions tomorrow could include delays to road, rail and bus services, with delays likely for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes.

Gusts of 45 to 50mph are expected across the UK with even stronger winds in coastal areas, the Met Office has warned.

There will be rain throughout the day

Currently the yellow weather warning across most of the UK has only been issued for the Tuesday.

Frank Saunders, a chief meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “Strong winds arriving across the west through Tuesday morning, will spread inland and reach eastern areas through the afternoon and early evening.

“Gusts of 45-50 mph are expected widely, with 60-70 mph in exposed coastal locations. The strongest winds will ease across inland areas into the overnight period.”
